Company will provide upgraded meal services along with internships and scholarships to students.

BATON ROUGE, LA — Louisiana-based Focus Foods is proud to announce the award of a meal services contract & workforce development partnership with Baton Rouge Community College. The company will occupy the kitchen/commissary on the main campus on Florida Blvd., with meal services slated to begin on or before August 1, 2022 for the 2022/2023 school year. Focus Foods will bring its 50+ years of culinary and meal service experience to provide hot, cold, specialty and grab-n-go food options for students, faculty, staff and visitors at the college.

"As we move into this exciting area of meal services for higher education campuses in Louisiana, we hope to bring a higher level of food quality and satisfaction to BRCC. Even more exciting is the chance to offer internships and scholarships to students in the culinary arts program with a path to employment with us upon graduation.” Ned Fasullo, Chief Marketing Officer Focus Foods.

As part of the college’s request, Focus Foods has partnered to include a workforce development component to the partnership with the inclusion of paid internships and annual scholarships to the students enrolled in the culinary arts program. These students will be involved in the day-to-day happenings of the operation from menu design to meal creation to managing staff to prepare them for post-graduate employment. The company will provide a path to employment post-graduation as state-wide and Gulf South Regional expansion continues throughout 2022 & 2023.

“We are pleased to partner with Focus Foods to bring high quality meal choices as well as workforce development opportunities to our students. This partnership will broaden the scope and training for our culinary arts students as they prepare for future employment.” - Dr. Willie E. Smith, BRCC Chancellor.
